Alternative Placement Services
Kinship Care Program
Within the Metis community there is a long history of extended family and community members providing care, nurturance and protection for children whose parents were unable to provide care. The philosophy of Michif Child and Family Services is grounded in these traditions and beliefs, with the Kinship Care program working to keep children within their own family networks and communities where possible.
Foster Care and Specialized Foster Care
Where children are unable to remain within their own family networks, Michif Child and Family Services strives to develop community resources and living environments that nurture and empower. Community members who believe in supporting children and youth to flourish and achieve their potential are actively sought in all regions.
Emergency Placement Resources
Michif Child and Family Services has developed three intake and assessment placement resources for children and youth in Manitoba. These include: Eagles Nest (Winnipeg); Sunrise House (Swan River) and Four Winds (Dauphin). These resources provide a short term placement resource for children and youth until a longer term service plan and placement is identified.
